Your Quality Consultations With Dr Mayson

As a patient you are entitled to be fully informed on ALL aspects of Breast Augmentation so that you can make an informed decision as to whether or not to have the procedure.

And you can only make an informed decision if you are given detailed information that covers EVERY aspect of Breast Augmentation including the possible risks.  This is why Dr Mayson allocates a minimum 1½ hours for your Initial Consultation.  Short consultations cannot possibly give you ALL the information you require.

Should you prefer, Dr Mayson is happy for you to bring along your husband, partner, relative or friend to each consultation.

1.  Your Consultations

If you have never had a Breast Consultation with Dr Mayson, here is what you can expect:

  • Lengthy and Detailed Consultations: the Initial Consultation takes around 1½ hours – necessary to give you ALL the information you require to make an informed decision as to whether or not to have the procedure.
  • No ‘Nurse Consultations’: All consultations are entirely with Dr Mayson himself.  After all, shouldn’t the person who’ll do your surgery also be doing your ENTIRE consultation?
  • A Detailed Information Brochure on Breast Augmentation written by Dr Mayson to take home and read after your Initial Consultation.  This means that you don’t have to worry about forgetting something that was explained at your consultation because the brochure will recap what Dr Mayson has discussed and shown you.
  • Second Consultation (Up to 1 hr):

    If, after your first consultation, you wish to proceed you will need a Second Consultation.  This is necessary in order to:

    • answer any further questions that may have arisen since your first appointment.
    • take detailed chest and breast measurements.
    • give you plenty of time to compare implants in an unrushed manner before making your final choice.
    • formulate the surgical plan that will best meet your objectives.

    Please Note: In special circumstances (e.g. for those patients travelling long distances, for interstate/overseas patients, or those with special circumstances) you may be able to have your Second Consultation on the same day as the Initial Consultation in order to avoid  the inconvenience of a return trip.

2.  Your Body – Your Choices!

Dr Mayson Will Always Involve You:

Dr Mayson believes that no one knows better than YOU how you want your breasts to finally look.

Accordingly, rather than your surgeon select which implant he/she thinks is the appropriate one for you, Dr Mayson prefers to have your input right from the start so that you are involved in the entire decision making process all the way through.

The six choices which Dr Mayson will ask you to select on are:

  1. Saline or Silicone implants;
  2. Round or ‘Tear-Drop’ shaped implants;
  3. Textured ("Rough"),  Smooth or Polyurethane Foam implant walls;
  4. Location of Incisions: under the breast, around the areola, in the armpit or through the navel;
  5. Position of Implant:  ‘under the muscle’ or ‘in front of the muscle’; and most importantly
  6. SIZE

Although Dr Mayson will give you all the necessary background information to enable you to make these choices, and guide you in the course of doing so, he will still leave the final decisions up to you - provided of course that you are not making any decision that will produce a look that’s not right for you - in which case he will definitely tell you so!

3. Customising Your Surgery

At your Second Consultation, many detailed measurements are taken.  These measurements are necessary not only for narrowing down your implant choices but also to plan your surgery and ensure that the implants you eventually select are appropriate in size for your frame and that your breasts and nipples are correctly positioned over the implants and do not sit too high or too far out to the sides.

Based on these measurements, Dr Mayson will show you the various implants that could achieve the look you desire.  We have a large range of implant styles, shapes and sizes for you to try in a crop-top so that you can visualise and compare the likely degree of correction each can give you.

Although Dr Mayson will guide you through the implant selection process he will ultimately leave the final choice of size up to you.  However, Dr Mayson strongly recommends that you choose a size that is in proportion to your overall figure and makes you " look great but not fake" !  To emphasise this point, take the time to look at the many magazine covers and Internet websites with before/after photographs that display oversize breasts and see how these look “out of proportion” and “unnatural” – in other words very obviously ‘fake’ to any observer.  This is what Dr Mayson strives to avoid!
